Greetings, Self-Care Champions!
Let’s take a moment to focus on enhancing your wellbeing and reducing stress. Life often presents us with multiple stressors, whether it’s related to work, family, finances, health, or other demands. Discovering ways to reduce stress and implement coping strategies can have a positive impact on both your physical and mental health!
From an evidence-based perspective, practicing breathing techniques can significantly help reduce job-related stress. Personally, I find the 4-7-8 technique to be the most enjoyable. It involves inhaling for 4 seconds, holding for 7 seconds, and exhaling for 8 seconds. Moreover, recent research suggests that this technique can effectively manage anxiety too!
Now, I understand that breathing exercises might not resonate with everyone, so here’s another suggestion: talk about it! Do you have a regular debrief built into your daily routine? What if you’re the only HR professional or return-to-work coordinator at your workplace? Who can you talk to or brainstorm with when feeling overwhelmed or stressed? If you find yourself without a supportive network, I’m delighted you’re here because discussing the things that stress you can make you feel less overwhelmed. And if you lack a strong support system, consider reaching out to a mental health professional for guidance.
Lastly, let’s put things into perspective. Try to understand and plan for situations that trigger stress. When you encounter stress, identify which situations you can control and which you can’t.
I’m curious to know if there’s anything you already do to manage stress. Please share in the comments below; I’d love to hear from you and keep our connection strong!
